How Do You Know If A WiFi Thermostat Is Right For Your Home?

How Do You Know If A WiFi Thermostat Is Right For Your Home?Controlling the heating and cooling in your San Diego area home can sometimes be a little tricky. What we suggest is the installation of a WiFi thermostat by a trained HVAC professional. If used wisely, these devices can lower your energy costs each month.

The Death of the Traditional Thermostat

Let’s face it. No one wants to get of bed on a cold morning to turn up the heat on a manual thermostat. Even though programmable thermostats helped to curtail that need for the most part, we still often find ourselves away from home longer than expected, knowing that our HVAC heating or cooling equipment is about to switch on and there’s nothing we can do about it. For these reasons and more, the WiFi thermostat was developed, sending inferior models to an early grave.

The Birth of the WiFi Thermostat

Okay, so maybe declaring the death of the traditional thermostat is a bit farfetched, but trust us when we say that the idea only has a hint of hyperbole to it. WiFi thermostats offer a number of great benefits that could make traditional models obsolete. These include:

  • Programmability — Like previous models, you can still program your thermostat to switch your home’s HVAC equipment on and off on a set schedule.
  • Internet connectivity — If you’re away from home and need to make any changes to your thermostat settings, you can do so through an Internet connection.
  • Smart phone app — Is connecting through the Internet not quite convenient enough? Then download the smart phone app and connect to your thermostat that way.
  • Analysis of weather information — A WiFi thermostat is able to connect to local weather information and make changes for you automatically.
  • Downloadable charts — To get your energy costs under control, you can analyze your usage by viewing charts on the device or having them e-mailed to you.
